At Howard University College of Pharmacy (HUCOP), the impact on the field of pharmacy is both deep and far-reaching, driven by a commitment to developing well-rounded, highly skilled pharmacists. Established in 1868, with its first Doctor of Pharmacy graduate in 1870, HUCOP has remained at the forefront of pharmaceutical education, innovation, and service—equipping generations of diverse and compassionate leaders who continue to transform healthcare locally and globally. Providing a pharmaceutical education of the highest quality for over 150 years, HUCOP has long excelled in teaching, learning, research, and community service.
 

Today, the College continues to evolve, preparing students to meet the demands of an ever-changing healthcare landscape. With a focus on excellence and adaptability, HUCOP recently launched its application for an Online Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) Pathway, expanding access to the “Howard University Experience” for students across the nation. This pathway ensures that students receive the same high-quality education, mentorship, and global/local rotation opportunities as their on-campus peers.
 

In addition to expanding access, HUCOP is also expanding possibilities. Beginning in Spring 2026, the College introduced new specialty tracks within the Pharm.D. curriculum, giving students the opportunity to tailor their studies and build expertise in emerging areas of pharmacy. The tracks include:

• Entrepreneurship & Leadership
• Data Science & Analytics
• Pharmaceutical Industry 

These innovative pathways are designed to help students understand and apply advancements in pharmacy, from the role of artificial intelligence in drug development to groundbreaking research in treatment and patient care. Additionally, the pathways prepare students to develop proficiency in business and entrepreneurial practices, machine learning, and the legal and policy frameworks shaping the pharmacy profession.
