Since the Class of 2013, the Center of Excellence has proudly highlighted the achievements of students participating in our programs. While COE has been serving the community for over 20 years, these student profiles showcase the talent, growth, and success of those who have come through our pipeline in recent years.
From future pharmacists to healthcare leaders, explore the stories of students who continue to shape the future of medicine and pharmacy through their dedication and passion.
Class of 2013

Gordon Adejumo
Gordon Adejumo hails from Lagos, Nigeria. He currently attends Howard University (HU) College of Arts and Sciences and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology with a concentration of Pre-Med. At HU, he is an active member of the Health Professions Society, International Students Association, and African Students Association. Upon graduation he plans to gain admission to Howard University College of Medicine where he plans to start his career meeting the demanding health care needs of his community.

Cecilia Akintonde
Cecilia Akintonde is a native of Prince George’s County, Maryland. She is currently a rising junior at the University of Maryland-College Park (UMCP). Cecilia is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Kinesiology and a concentration in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Therapy. At the UMCP, her campus and community involvement consists of being a Student Athletic Trainer at the Maryland Terrapins Comcast Center, a Justice for DC Youth Mentor, and an active member of the African Progressive Union. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Maryland -School of Medicine. She aims to redefine physical therapy in the eyes of the community and its patients along with addressing fitness and health concerns from a global and local perspective.

Thamar Anglin
Thamar Anglin is a native of the small Caribbean island of Jamaica. She is currently a senior at Bowie State University (BSU) and is expected to graduate in May 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology. At BSU, she is an active member of the Chapter of The National Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi honors society. Upon graduation she hopes to gain admission to the School of Medicine at Howard University as she hopes to pursue a career in the field of Medicine. She hopes one day to build a free clinic and a homeless shelter in her native land. Thamar has spent her time volunteering, participating in different activities in her community and playing tennis.

Briana Brown
Briana Brown is a native of New Jersey. She currently attends Howard University and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry. At Howard, has served as the 2012-2013 Historian for the Pre-Pharmacy Association and Dorm Council. Ms. Brown currently serves as the Community Service Director of the Pre-Pharmacy Association. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program at Howard University. Briana intends to work for Doctors without Borders international medical humanitarian organization.

Gerlynn Calvaire
Gerlynn Calvaire is a native of Miami, Florida. She currently attends Howard University and is expected to complete her pre-pharmacy courses spring 2014. At Howard, she is a member of the Caribbean Student Association and the Florida Club. Upon completing her pre-pharmacy courses she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program at Howard University, she plans to start her career meeting the demanding health care needs of her community.

Bianca Campbell
Bianca Campbell is from Fayetteville, North Carolina. She currently attends Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and is expected to graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy. She is an active member of Spelman's Society of Pre-Pharmaceutical Professions, Spelman's Health Careers Club, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She wants to study abroad to research epidemic infectious disease before graduating. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to a Doctor of
Pharmacy Degree Program. She plans to specialize in Infectious Diseases once she has obtained her Pharm.D.

Cynthia Clark
Cynthia Clark is from Chester, PA. She currently attends Cheyney University and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Chemistry and Biology. At Cheyney University she is an active member of the Biology Club and tutors students in Chemistry biology, math and, Spanish. After, graduation she plans to attend Pharmacy school and become a pharmacist that specializes in Type 2 Diabetes.

Joshua Darko
Joshua Darko is a native of Newark, Delaware. He currently attends Howard University and is planning to apply for admission for fall 2014 to Howard College of Pharmacy. Currently, he is the Co-President of the Pre-Pharmacy Association and an active member of Student Council. He has worked for year as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS Pharmacy. Once he receives his degree in pharmacy, he plans to start his career meeting the demanding health care needs of his community.

Andreya Davis
Andreya Davis is a proud native of the Motor City: Detroit, MI. She currently attends the illustrious Howard University (HU) and is expected to graduate in May 2014 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in English and a concentration in Allied Sciences. During her matriculation at HU, she was an executive board member of the Michigan Club, Site-Coordinator of Alternative Spring Break:
Detroit, member of the Health Professionals Society and the Residence Life Royal Court. Upon graduation, Ms. Davis plans to pursue a Master's degree as a Physician Assistant and commit herself to practicing medicine in an inner-city hospital. She is forever grateful for the exposure and knowledge gained as a result of the ACSEP program and is sure that she has not only strengthened her aptitude of STEM related courses, but is also a more competent future health professional.

Danielle Gaynor
Danielle Gaynor also known as “DStacksss,” is an ambitious young woman native to the DMV. Her appreciation for the sciences led her to attending Howard University (HU) to study human performance with a concentration in sports medicine. Danielle attended Charles Herbert Flowers High School’s Science and Technology Magnet program, in Prince Georges County where she was a star athlete on the track team. Upon graduation she matriculated into HU where she is currently a Junior Sports Medicine Major minoring in Chemistry. At Howard she is a member of the Health Professions Society where she serves as Vice President of Special Programs and also the Noble Black Society where she serves as president. On top of participating in the ACSEP Program she is also in the midst of launching her new company Gaynor Promotions. After college, Danielle plans on attending medical school and specializing in orthopedic surgery.

Nadege Gitego
Nadege Gitego is a native of Rwanda, Africa. She is fluent in French, Kinyarwanda and English. She currently attends Spelman College and is expected to graduate in May 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biochemistry and a concentration in Pre-Medicine. At Spelman College, she is an active member of the Health Careers Program, the African Student Association, and a secretary of the International Student Organization. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Medicine Degree Program at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. After advanced trainings, she plans to start her career as an anatomic pathologist meeting the demanding health care needs of her community.

Isabelle Niyonshuti
Isabelle Niyonshuti is a rising sophomore, Biochemistry major at Spelman College Atlanta-Georgia and a Rwanda Presidential scholar. She plans to attend medical school so that she can go back and help people in her country who are suffering from different diseases like cancer. She is a member of the Health
Careers Program, International Student Association, and African Student Association at Spelman College. Her passion is helping people and she is highly motivated to pursue a specialty as an anatomy pathologist.

Obinna Okani
Obinna Okani is a native of Orange, New Jersey. He currently attends Howard University and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Osteopathic Medicine. He is an active executive board member of the HU International Pals and member of the African Students’ Association, Omoge African Dance Ensemble, and the New Jersey Club. He volunteers his time at the DC Office of African Affairs and the Neuroscience lab in the department of Physiology at the Howard University College of Medicine. Upon graduation, he plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree Program.

Florence Palle
Florence Palle is a resident of MD, originally from Cameroon. Currently Florence attends Montgomery College where she is majoring in Pre-Pharmacy. Upon completion, Florence plans to gain admission to the Howard University College of Pharmacy where she intends to pursue a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Although Florence has not determined her area of specialty in Pharmacy, she looks forward to the exposure she will receive to the numerous career options from the College of Pharmacy.

Shazzanne Pennant
Shazzanne Pennant is from St. Catherine, Jamaica. She currently attends Howard University and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Pre-Medicine. At Howard University, she is an active member of the Pre-Health Professions Society, and the Caribbean Students Association. She has worked for the last 2 summers as a Dental Office Assistant and in her spare time, takes part in local volunteering projects. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Medicine Degree Program at Howard University. She plans to start her career as a pathologist working to find cures for many diseases and illnesses, in order to fulfill her ultimate goal of increasing people’s quality of life.

Fayolah Richards
Fayolah Richards hails from Atlanta, Georgia. She is a rising senior at Howard University pursuing a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Nutritional Science. At Howard University, Fayolah has become an active member of Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity and Delta Phi Alpha German Honor Society. She is the co-president of the Howard University German Club and also has membership in the Howard University Nutrition Club, Health Professions Society and the Pre- Pharmacy club. Upon graduation Fayolah intends to attend Pharmacy school.

Jasent Walker
Jasent Walker is from Lanham, Maryland. She currently attends Howard University and is expected to graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science with a concentration in Medicine. Throughout her undergraduate career, she has been extremely active in volunteer work including Feed Our People, The Washington Home & Community Hospices, and Howard University Hospital. Jasent has diverse interests that range from playing rugby to playing the piano. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to a medical school of her choice where she will earn her MD/PhD to start her career meeting the demanding health care needs of her community.
Class of 2017

Ms. Dagmawit Betru
Ms. Dagmawit Betru was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. She was raised in Spain. She currently attends the University of District of Columbia and is expected to graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Biology. At the University of District of Columbia, she is an active member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Honor Society, Biology Club and the STEM Research Organization. She also plays Lacrosse. She is currently working as a Pharmacy Technician at CVS pharmacy. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program at Howard University in fall 2018.

Ms. Chloe Blackmon
Ms. Chloe Blackmon hails from Greensboro, North Carolina. She currently attends Spelman College and is expected to graduate in May of 2018 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Dentistry. At Spelman College, she serves as the President of the Student Health Associates and Peer Educators (S.H.A.P.E.) and also as the Pre-Dental Representative on the Health Careers Club Executive Board. She is a proud member of the Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society and an engaged scholar in the Increasing Diversity in Dentistry and H.C.O.P.P.P. Programs. Chloe has enjoyed serving the Atlanta community as a volunteer at the Ben Massell Dental Clinic. Upon graduation she hopes to gain admission to a Doctor of Dental Surgery Program; she looks forward to providing personalized dental care to patients in underserved and marginalized communities.

Ms. Oluwatosin Dairo
Ms. Oluwatosin Dairo is a native of Osun state, Nigeria. She recently graduated from the University of the District of Columbia in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biology. At the University of the District of Columbia, she was an active member of the National Institute of Science (NIS/BKX) and worked on prostate cancer research. In addition, she interned at the Center for Prostate Disease (CPDR) in Rockville, Maryland. She plans to gain admission into the Howard University Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in fall 2018 and greatly contribute into the health care society.

Ms. Reem Eldabagh
Ms. Reem Eldabagh is a rising junior from William Paterson University of New Jersey (WPUNJ). She is a double major in biology and chemistry with a minor in French. She is expected to graduate in May 2019. At WPUNJ, she is an active member of the Future Healthcare Professionals, as well as the university's GS-LSAMP (Garden State-Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation) monthly meetings. She has worked for the last year as a university tutor and photographer. Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission to a program satisfactory of her many and varied interests. Reem enjoys anatomical dissections and believes that knowledge becomes more meaningful when applied. Reem would like to become a doctor. Moreover, she has an unquenchable scientific curiosity that drives her towards research, making an MD/PhD Dual Degree program her current degree program of choice.

Ms. Kelsey Green
Ms. Kelsey Green from Memphis, Tennessee, is a rising junior at the Xavier University of Louisiana in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is expected to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology and Chemistry with a Pre-Medicine concentration. At Xavier, she is an active member of the Student Government Association, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Adopt-a-Grandparent. She is currently a supplemental instructor and does research pertaining to mobile elements. Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission in fall 2019 to the Doctor of Medicine Degree Program at Howard University, where she then will pursue a career in the surgical field.

Ms. Sandi Imayeguahi
Ms. Sandi Imayeguahi was born and raised in Bronx, New York. She attended SUNY Geneseo and recently graduated in May 2017 with a Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Chemistry and a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy. At SUNY Geneseo she was the Co-director of the Gospel Choir and an active member of the Community Health Alliance, as well as the Minority Association of Pre-health Students (MAPS). She plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program at Howard University and then jump-start her career into meeting the demands of health care needs, in her community.

Ms. Serena Medor
Ms. Serena Medor is a native of Laurel, Maryland. She currently attends St. Mary’s College of Maryland and is expected to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Chemistry and a minor in Neuroscience. At St. Mary’s College of Maryland, she is an active member in the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, Black Student Union, and the DeSousa-Brent Scholars Program. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program at Howard University, and to continue to be an active member in the community.

Mr. Gratino Ngassa Kampie
Mr. Gratino Ngassa Kampie was born in Douala, Cameroon. He earned a Master’s degree in computer engineering in Cameroon before he came to the United States in June 2010. He currently attends the University of District of Columbia and is expected to graduate in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry. At the University of District of Columbia, he is an active member of the STEM research organization. He currently works as a nurse and plans to gain admission in fall 2018 to Howard University College of Medicine to become a General Surgeon.

Mr. Sochima Oriaku
Mr. Sochima Oriaku is a native of Silver Spring, Maryland. He currently attends Prince Georges Community College (PGCC) and is expected to graduate in May 2018 with an Associate of Arts in General Studies-Chemistry option and a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy. At PGCC he was a member of the Pre-Pharmacy club and the Chemistry club. He has worked as a nationally certified pharmacy technician for the last 5 years at both a community pharmacy and at Children’s National Medical Center. It was through working as a pharmacy technician where he recognized the great impact pharmacists contribute to the medical field and to ensuring patient medication safety. Over the years, the advancements made in the pharmaceutical field has improved and saved many patients lives and he wants to add to this great cause and further help advance patient drug safety through patient counseling and working as a clinical pharmacist. He is expected to take the PCAT and apply to pharmacy school in the summer of 2017. Upon completion, he plans to gain admission into a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program for the fall of 2018 and intends to further pursue his passion and commitment to helping others in a career as a Pharmacist.

Mr. James Ulmer
Mr. James Ulmer is a proud native son of our nation’s capital, Washington D.C. He currently attends the Virginia Union University and is expected to graduate in May of 2019 with a Bachelor’s degree in biology. Upon graduation he plans to gain admission to the Physician Assistant program at a university near the district. He plans to start his career meeting the demanding health care needs in underserved communities.

Ms. Jerusalem Wogayehu
Ms. Jerusalem Wogayehu is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia but she currently resides in Washington, DC. She attends George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and is expected to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s in the Honors College of Science and a concentration in neuroscience with a premed track. At George Mason University, she is an active member and treasurer of the American Medical Student Association. She is also part of the Ethiopian/Eritrean Student Association, Patriot’s Activities Council and she works with Mason Life, a program dedicated to the students that are intellectuality and developmentally disabled. Upon graduation she plans to gain admission to the medical school program at Howard University and she plans to serve her community and help make more positive changes in the medical field.

Ms. Kalekidan Abera
Ms. Kalekidan Abera is a native of Silver Spring, Maryland. She currently attends Towson University and is a Biology major with Cellular and Molecular Concentration, who is expected to graduate May 2020. She is a member of the Women in Science Club and she volunteers at a local hospital. After graduation, she plans on attending medical school.

Ms. Bosson-Sora M. Ahouti
Ms. Bosson-Sora M. Ahouti is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. She spent her entire childhood in Senegal and is now living in D.C. She is currently attending the University of the District of Columbia. She is expected to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree. At the University of the District of Columbia, she is an active committee member of the Bio-Chem Club, Board member of the UDC African Student Association. She worked for nearly 2 years under the Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics center in a cancer research lab.

Mr. Jonathan Bekoe
Mr. Jonathan Bekoe is a native of New York. He graduated with a Bachelors in Chemistry from SUNY Geneseo in May of 2017. He’s applying to medical school for the class of 2023. At Geneseo Jonathan was involved in for three years Nano-science Research, Tutor, and Resident Assistant. Jonathan is biometric screen

Ms. Anfel Bouzid
Ms. Anfel Bouzid was born and raised in Vienna, Virginia. She currently attends George Mason University and expects to graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Neuroscience. She has served and continues to serve as the Director of Public Relations for the Pre-Pharmacy Association and as a volunteer and Marketing Ambassador of the Mason Model World Health Organization. Following graduation, she plans to earn admission into a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree Program. In the future, Anfel hopes to work with an international humanitarian program to educate others about safe pharmaceutical practices and to help disadvantaged peoples get proper and affordable pharmaceutical care in their communities.

Ms. A’Doriann Bradley
Ms. A’Doriann Bradley from Memphis, Tennessee, a student of the University of Miami Class of 2020, studies Biomedical Engineering with a premed concentration. She is an active volunteer at South Miami Hospital, passionate member of Best Buddies’ International, friendly campus tour guide, and faithful leader of UM’s premier gospel choir. While at home in Memphis, A’Doriann enjoys serving her community and spending time with family and friends. She hopes to become a medical doctor who contributes to the development of novel therapies that will cease the progression of diseases in underserved populations of the world.

Ms. Adriana Campos
Ms. Adriana Campos was born and raised in the state of Maryland. She recently graduated from Montgomery College with an Associate’s degree. In the upcoming semester, she will attend the University of Maryland at the Shady Grove campus. Adriana is expected to graduate in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. After graduating, she plans to attend pharmacy school to receive a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Although future plans are not exactly settled, Adriana is very hopeful and passionate for what is next to come.

Ms. Monette Daniels
Ms. Monette Daniels was born in Kansas City, Kansas but moved to Detroit, Michigan at only 6 months. She currently attends Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland and will graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology. Ms. Daniels also plays volleyball, is an active member in the Pre-Health Organization, Biology club, was just selected to be a Peer Bears Mentor and voted Morgan State’s Miss Athletics at the illustrious Morgan State. After graduation, she plans to enroll into a Nursing School back home.

Mr. Nicodeme Ekani
Mr. Nicodeme Ekani was originally born in Cameroon, but he lives in Washington DC. He is currently a senior at the University of the District of Columbia, majoring in Biology. Nicodeme plans to graduate with a bachelor’s in science and hopes to gain acceptance into medical school, where he wants to specialize in either internal or emergency medicine.

Ms. Kathryn Jackson

Mr. Steve Kouemo
Mr. Steve Kouemo is from Cameroon, Africa and grew up in Atlanta Georgia. He is currently attending the University of The District of Columbia. He is expected to graduate May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. As a student at UDC he is a member of the biochemistry and biology club. He has also been shadowing in a dental office for about one year because he is interested in becoming a dentist. Upon graduation he hopes to be admitted to the dental school program at Howard University.

Ms. Megan Littleton
Ms. Megan Littleton is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. She currently attends Xavier University of Louisiana and is expected to graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. At Xavier, Megan maintains her 3.98 GPA, while still being very involved on the campus. She is on the University’s Gold Star Dance Team, serves as a Peer Dean, tutors biology in Project Be There, teaches Chemistry Drill, and is in many honor societies. Megan is very passionate about healthcare; therefore, she works at the Baton Rouge General Hospital as well. Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission to medical school. Megan intends to complete her residency in pediatrics and serve underserved communities.

Ms. Natalia Loudd
Ms. Natalia Loudd is a native of Houston, TX. She currently attends Xavier University of Louisiana and is expected to graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. At Xavier, she has served as the 2017-2018 Publicity Chair for the NAACP. Natalia currently serves as the Junior Class Secretary, NAACP Vice President and MAPS Publicity Chair. Upon graduation she plans to attend medical school where she will work toward her dream of becoming a pediatric surgeon.

Ms. Efuwa Nyarku
Ms. Efuwa Nyarku is rising senior at University of MD Eastern Shore, whose goal is to first graduate May 2019 with a Bachelor's of Science in biology and to later get an MD specializing in pediatrics. She has previously served in her church as President of the Youth Council and other leadership roles and intends to use her experiences as a propellant to her next steps in school and in life. A second aspiration of hers is to establish a not-for-profit organization in which she can create internships for medical students to enable them to go to isolated communities in the United States and elsewhere in the world to provide free medical services and nutrition education, especially for underprivileged, underserved, and marginalized children. She knows that she'll be in school for quite a while, but she knows her end goal is worth it.

Ms. Cherrelle Perkins
Ms. Cherrelle Perkins is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana. She currently attends Xavier University of Louisiana and is expected to graduate in May 2020 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Biology. At Xavier University of Louisiana, she has served as the 2016-2017 Second Floor Representative of the St. Katharine Drexel Hall for the Residence Hall Association (RHA) and 2017-2018 Sophomore Class Senator for the Student Government Association (SGA). Cherrelle currently serves as the 2018-2019 Community Service Chair for the Alpha Epsilon Delta Pre-Medical Honor Society (AED), and is also an active member of the Dean’s List, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society (ALD) and National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS). Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission to the College of Dentistry at Howard University. Cherrelle plans to change individuals’ lives by giving them smiles of confidence.

Ms. Ja’nea Simon
Ms. Ja’nea Simon is a national of St. Croix, U.S.V.I. She currently graduated Montgomery College class of 2018 with an Associate’s Degree in Life Science. While attending Montgomery College she held various leadership positions such as secretary of the Pharmacy Club and Honors Service Club. She has plans of attending University of Maryland School of Pharmacy Fall 2018 to earn her PharmD. After completion of the four-year pharmacy program Ja’nea intends to work as a Pediatric Pharmacist.

Ms. Yeabsera Tadesse
Ms. Yeabsera Tadesse is a native of Silver Spring, Maryland. She currently attends University of Maryland, College Park and is expected to graduate in May 2019 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and a concentration in Pre-Pharmacy. At the University of Maryland, she is an active member of the University of Maryland American Medical Student Association (AMSA) and the Ethiopian Eritrean Student Association. She has worked for the last two years as a Kohl’s associate and recently started a part time position as a concierge. Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program at Howard University, where she can impact the lives of others through her service.

Ms. Mac Annie Telemaque
Ms. Mac Annie Telemaque is a product of the island of Dominica. Presently, she attends Lehman College and is expected to graduate in June 2019 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Philosophy. She recently graduated from the CUNY Bronx Community College June 2017 where she was an active member of the STEM club and served as the secretary and a standing committee member of the Student Council scholarship committee. She has volunteered as a Pharmacy Technician at her community pharmacy in Wesley, Dominica during her summer vacations. Mac Annie’s love for community and Family has been her motivation in volunteering in various community activities such as tutoring students in her neighborhood, committing her summers for teaching summer day camps, and participating in Girls brigade 2nd Dominica. Upon graduation, it is her intention to attain admission to the Doctor of Medicine Program at Howard University, she plans to start her career meeting the demanding health care needs of her Island.

Ms. Soukeina Traore
Ms. Soukeina Traore is a native of Burkina Faso and currently resides in Washington, D.C. She is a rising junior at the University of the District of Columbia majoring in Biology. Ms. Traore is a member of the UDC STEM center, where she is research assistant in a lab that focuses on the role of the androgen receptor in cancer cells. She is also a board member of the Biology/Chemistry club at UDC. She plans on enrolling in medical school to be a pediatrician, and is still exploring what field of pediatric she wishes to pursue.

Ms. Ustina AbdelSayed
Ms. Ustina AbdelSayed is a foreigner of Virginia. She was born and raised in Egypt. She currently attends George Mason University and is expected to graduate in May 2021 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Neuroscience. At George Mason, Ustina is participating in Global Brigades as well as other pre-medical extracurricular activities. Ms. AbdelSayed currently volunteers, works, and interns at her local hospital. Upon graduation she plans to go to a post baccalaureate pre-medical program where she can further prepare for Medicine School. Upon completing the post baccalaureate program, she hopes gain admission to the School of Medicine at Howard University to become a Pediatrician. Ustina intends to serve children in underserved areas and be a part of Doctors Without Borders.

Ms. Maria Amaya-Ortiz
Ms. Maria Amaya-Ortiz is a first-generation Latina student. She currently attends Prince George’s Community College and is expected to graduate in May 2021 with an Associate Degree in Nursing. At PGCC, she has served as TRiO Ambassador and as an active member of Women of Wisdom. Ms. Amaya currently serves as a Clinician at Children’s Developmental Clinic and is a prospective volunteer at Prince George’s Hospital. Upon graduation, she plans to gain admission to the University of Maryland Nursing Program to further obtain her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. Following this, Maria intends to move to San Antonio, Texas where she can serve the unserved immigrant population and attend the University of the Incarnate Word, School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Mr. Matthew Austin
Mr. Matthew Austin is a native of Washington, DC. He currently attends the University of District of Columbia & previously attended Hampton University. At Hampton University, he was an active member of the Pre-Pharmacy Club, and BioChem Organization. He has worked for the last 2 years as a Pharmacy Technician at Rite Aid, now Walgreens. Mr. Austin plans to start his career meeting the demanding health care needs of his community.
