When Should I Apply?

Students should apply as soon as possible, but before March 1 to be guaranteed consideration for acceptance into the entering fall class.

What are the pre-pharmacy courses I need to complete?

Please refer to the section on pre-requisites for complete requirements and admissions information.

Do I need to include courses taken at foreign institutions?

The College of Pharmacy does not evaluate foreign transcripts. Foreign credits MUST appear on a U.S. regionally accredited college or university transcript prior to consideration.

Do I need to have an undergraduate degree before applying to the College of Pharmacy?

An undergraduate degree is not required. However, having an undergraduate degree can enhance your application. 

Is an in-person interview required?

Yes, but only after the applicant has been selected for further consideration by the Pharmacy Admissions Committee.

Do you offer Joint Degree Program?

Currently, we offer the Pharm.D./M.B.A. degree program in conjunction with the School of Business. An applicant must present evidence of successful completion of all courses of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year of the Doctor of Pharmacy Program at Howard University and be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00.

Do you offer Early Decision?

Yes, to be considered as an Early decision applicant, all pre-requisites must be met at the time of application. A student must also have highly competitive credentials (PCAT and GPA) and all application procedures must be completed through PharmCas at www.pharmcas.org

What is the cost of tuition?

The estimated cost of tuition and fees per year is $30,842. The University reserves the right to make tuition adjustments, as it determines is warranted.
