Prospective Visiting International Students and Pharmacists
Howard University College of Pharmacy hosts both students and practicing pharmacists from a range of international pharmacy institutions and programs. This is part of an effort to forge meaningful international partnerships, while also providing and enriching opportunity to learn about the practice of pharmacy in the United States. Our curriculum is tailored to the goals and objectives of the partnering international institution or program. Experiences usually focus on community practice, clinical pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical research, academic instruction, or a combination of areas. Visitors have opportunities to observe and interact with pharmacists, patients, and other health care practitioners, with the main site being Howard University Hospital. We offer 4 or 5-week experiences during the summer academic session.
An educational institution (college or university) or program must apply on behalf of the participant(s). The institution or program is responsible for selecting the participants based upon internal criteria. Howard University College of Pharmacy can accommodate a limited number of visiting students or faculty annually and priority is given to those with which the College has official partnerships with. Partnering educational institutions must have a curriculum which focuses on intensive instruction in the area of pharmacy practice, pharmacy management, and/or pharmaceutical sciences. Partners or visiting students/pharmacists must be prepared to sponsor all travel and expenses.
