Howard University College of Pharmacy is thrilled to expand its academic offerings by launching an Online PharmD pathway, set to begin in Fall 2026. This pathway will allow students to pursue their Doctor of Pharmacy degree with greater flexibility and accessibility, catering to diverse learning preferences and schedules.

Our new online pathway will deliver the same exceptional education as the on-campus experience, ensuring a robust and interactive curriculum, strong faculty mentorship, and opportunities for meaningful peer engagement in a virtual format.

Admission Requirements
  • Completion of Pre-Pharmacy Prerequisite Courses
    All required coursework must be completed prior to matriculation.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
    Competitive applicants typically exceed this minimum.
  • Letter of Intent
    A personal statement (minimum 250 words) explaining why you are interested in attending pharmacy school and pursuing a PharmD degree.
  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
    Must be from a faculty member, mentor, academic advisor, or healthcare employer. 
    Letters from family members or relatives (by blood or marriage) will not be accepted.
  • Official Transcripts
    Transcripts must be submitted from all previously attended colleges or universities.

What are the required pre-requisites?

What are the attendance and participation requirements for weekly live sessions?

In addition to asynchronous coursework, students are required to attend one live session per week for each course. Attendance and active participation are mandatory, and cameras must remain on for the full duration of each session to ensure engagement.

What are the summer immersions?

Online pathway students are required to attend 2 two-week, in-person summer immersion (10 working days each), during which they will complete Foundations of Pharmacy Practice and Compounding Lab courses. These immersions are held at Howard University College of Pharmacy during the summers following the end of their P1 year and again after their P3 year.

When are students required to be on campus?

Students are required to be on campus three times:

  1. For a one-week orientation before starting the P1 year.
  2. For a two-week summer immersion after the P1 year.
  3. For a two-week summer immersion after the P3 year.
     

If any adjustments are made, students will be notified in advance

The application cycle runs from July through June 1.
