General Questions

What is a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree?

A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) is a professional graduate-level degree that prepares individuals to become licensed pharmacists. PharmD graduates are equipped to provide patient care through safe and effective medication use, counseling, and health advocacy.

What types of careers can I pursue with a PharmD degree?

With a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, you can pursue a wide range of careers across clinical, research, academic, and industry settings. Here are some career paths for PharmD graduates: 

Clinical Pharmacist 

Work directly with healthcare teams in hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities to manage patient medication therapies and improve outcomes. 

Community Pharmacist 

Serve as the most accessible healthcare provider to the public, offering medication dispensing, counseling, vaccinations, and wellness support. 

Industry Pharmacist 

Work in pharmaceutical companies in roles such as: 

  • Medical Affairs
  • Regulatory Affairs
  • Clinical Trials Management
  • Drug Safety/Pharmacovigilance
  • Medical Science Liaison (MSL) 

Ambulatory Care Pharmacist 

Provide chronic disease management and preventative care in outpatient settings, often working closely with primary care providers. 

Public Health Pharmacist 

Contribute to population health programs, disease prevention, and health education at public health departments or organizations like the CDC.

Do you accept out-of-state or international students?

Yes! We accept both out-of-state and international applicants for our traditional program.

Please note: At this time, we are not accepting international students for our new Online PharmD pathway.  

What are the required pre-requisites?

Is there a minimum GPA requirement?

Yes. 

  • Traditional PharmD Program: 2.5 GPA minimum 

  • Online PharmD Pathway: 3.0 GPA minimum 

What is the minimum grade accepted for pre-requisite courses?

All pre-requisite courses must be completed with a grade of C or higher.

Do I need to complete all pre-requisites before applying?

Priority will be given to applicants who have completed all pre-pharmacy requirements by the end of the spring semester prior to their intended start date.

Who should write my letters of recommendation?

Two (2) letters are required from individuals who can speak to your qualifications, such as professors, academic advisors, mentors, healthcare professionals, or employers.

Letters from family members or relatives (by blood or marriage) will not be accepted.

Interview Questions

Are interviews required?

Yes. Competitive applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be invited to an interview.

What should I expect during the interview?

During the interview, applicants will be assessed on the following technical standards: 

  • Communication
  • Observation
  • Professional Conduct
  • Analysis & Synthesis 

You’ll also: 

  • Participate in a student panel Q&A
  • Go on a college tour
  • Take an on-site algebra-based math test 

The Online Pathway interview process does not follow the traditional format. More information to come.
