Dr. Bryan Sackey, c/o 2015
Dr. Bryan Sackey, a D.C. Metropolitan native, completed his undergraduate training at the University of Maryland College Park and received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Howard University. During that time, Dr. Sackey established the Pharmacy Initiative Leaders program (PILs), which has since transformed into a nationwide non-profit organization dedicated to providing premier resources for pharmacy enthusiasts in underserved communities. Additionally, Dr. Sackey was a founding member of the first ever pharmacy focused Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) in the nation.
After receiving his PharmD, Dr. Sackey completed two years of residency training to include a specialization in Psychiatry. Dr Sackey currently serves as a Psychopharmacologist at the San Antonio VA as well as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy psychiatry program. Additionally, Dr. Sackey is involved with several national organizations including the College of Psychiatric and Neurologic Pharmacists.
Dr. Sackey is well versed in topics ranging from mental health disparities, population health and minority leadership development as evidenced by his numerous speaking engagements on various national platforms. Currently, Dr. Sackey is focused on his recently launched the “Your Mind is Our Business” project which is dedicated towards bringing mental health awareness to minority communities and the associated healing process. Additionally, Dr. Sackey is a mental health coach providing one on one consultative services for comprehensive mental healing.
As a recent 40 under 40 Healthcare provider honoree, Dr. Sackey's passion involves helping to break the barriers of mental health in our communities and increase access to care in disparaged populations. Through his experiences, Dr. Sackey hopes to EMPOWER others to achieve beyond the perceived limitations of our society
