Dr. Damika Walker, c/o 2015
Damika Walker, PharmD, is the Registered Manager at Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy located inside of Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC. Dr. Walker received a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2006) and her Doctor of Pharmacy from Howard University College of Pharmacy (2015). After graduating from pharmacy school, Damika embarked on a post-graduate internship with the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and Giant Eagle Pharmacy which primarily focused on implementing clinical programs in a community pharmacy practice setting. Upon returning to the DC area in 2016, she launched her pharmacy career journey in independent pharmacy at BelleVue Pharmacy.
In 2018, she transitioned into the role of Immunization Program Clinical Coordinator at Grubb’s Pharmacy, the oldest independent pharmacy in Washington, DC. In less than four months, she was promoted to Pharmacist-In-Charge. Her development of the immunization program at Grubb’s Pharmacy fueled her passion for advocating for immunizations which afforded her the opportunity to join ImmunizeDC Coalition. In 2021, she was unanimously voted as the coalition’s chair where she currently serves. Damika’s advocacy for immunizations has opened doors for her to partner with APhA’s Vaccine Confident Initiative during COVID, speak on webinars and podcasts, and participate in a focus group surrounding pharmacists’ role in maternal immunizations.
In February 2022, Damika joined the Walgreens family as a retail pharmacy manager in Glen Burnie, MD, and in August 2022, she transitioned into her current role as the Registered Manager of the Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy at Howard University Hospital. A servant leader at heart, Dr. Walker has a passion to serve her community both through her profession as well as through her church ministry. She is a proud wife and mother of two beautiful children.
